ABOUT JEFF: As a lifetime farmer, Jeff Gargiulo has always been passionate about the land and agricultural, and today that passion is focused on the joys of grape growing and fine wine making. 30 years ago though, he and his wife Valerie only dreamed of one day building a premier wine estate. That dream took shape in the early 1980s when Jeff and Valerie and their young family traveled to Napa Valley to visit Valerie's cousins, Barney and Belle Rhodes. Napa Valley icons, Barney and Belle Rhodes had been in the Napa Valley since the late 1960s growing grapes in Rutherford at Bella Oaks Vineyard. Jeff and Valerie were inspired by their cousin’s Napa Valley lifestyle and confident that with their help and Jeff’s agricultural knowledge they would make some of the finest wines in the world. Twelve years later and with countless hours of coaching from Barney and Belle, Jeff and Valerie purchased their first vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley, Money Road Ranch in 1992. Seven years later they purchased their second Oakville property, 575 ovx.
From the beginning, the Gargiulo’s committed themselves to creating a world class Cabernet Sauvignon wine estate. From his years spent farming, Jeff Gargiulo, knew that if he didn't start with the very best land, he could never expect to grow the best grapes. For this reason, the Gargiulo's chose Oakville to establish their namesake winery. Then, like today, Oakville was considered to be amongst the preeminent places to grow Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. The very first vintage of Gargiulo Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon was 2000, and since then Gargiulo Vineyards has quietly taken its place among the most highly regarded Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Napa Valley. Not ones to rest on their laurels, Jeff, Valerie, daughter, April and the entire Gargiulo Vineyards’ team continue to strive to make Gargiulo wines the most pure and breathtaking expressions of their two esteemed Oakville vineyards.

Born in Colorado in May 1972—the same day his parents, Tom and Sally Jordan, signed the deed on their first Alexander Valley property and established Jordan—John Jordan has served as Chief Executive Officer of the winery since October 2005.
The Jordan family permanently moved from Colorado to California in 1979 to live on the winery estate. John attended grade school in Healdsburg and spent many nights and weekends fishing at the winery’s lake. An interest in airplanes arrived during preparatory school, and John earned his Private Pilot Certificate in Sonoma County at age 17. Before leaving home for college, John attained his Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings, and type ratings in Gulfstream and Citation aircraft.
John studied economics in college, then attended law school. He is a 1995 graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles and a 2002 graduate of Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa, Calif. During college, he continued to feed his passion for flying and received his Airline Transport Pilot License at age 23 (minimum age requirement). While studying law, John also attended graduate school and received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of San Francisco in 2002. He also served in the military reserves in his twenties and thirties.
After passing the California Bar Examination in December 2002, John joined the Santa Rosa-based law firm where he’d worked as a clerk in college, then opened his own private firm in Sonoma County in 2004. In 2005, John stepped away from his thriving law practice to oversee day-to-day operations of the family winery. John moved back to the property in 2006, then built a home overlooking the lake where he grew up fishing.
With a commitment to preserving the foundation on which his parents successfully built the Jordan brand–elegant, balanced wines and exceptional hospitality—John has utilized his business acumen and philosophy to reenergize the winery. He has built upon Jordan’s brand equity by fostering a culture of excellence where passionate, knowledgeable people are encouraged to perfect their respective crafts every day. From energy-efficient roofs, solar arrays and water recycling to fruit sourcing, extended bottle aging, soil-mapping studies, iPad integration and the overall hospitality experience, John has elevated the winery’s relentless commitment to quality in every aspect of the business.
In 2010, John co-founded a technology company that specializes in digital wine list solutions for restaurants. He also created the John Jordan Foundation in 2012—a private, charitable foundation focused on income stability and educational attainment, which funds projects in elementary schools for literacy and technology, as well as micro-loan programs for low-income families to launch small businesses.
When not running the winery or traveling the country to champion Jordan wines, John enjoys flying his Piper Cub and fishing for bass on Jordan lake. He also serves as a professor at the Empire College School of Law, and speaks German and Russian. He shares his hillside home with Labradors he adopted from a local shelter.

4/7-Michael Horn & Nicole Nielsen visit with Jim Fox, Dean Nucich and Taylor Hart

ABOUT JIM: As a professional athlete, everything is about wins and losses, and even though this intense competition is extremely rewarding, I realized after retiring from the NHL that wine brought me something that was very different, but just as fulfilling.  A games’ final score can be so “black and white,” and while wine is scored and rated, it is the many various intangible rewards that I have grown to love.  Wine is about the art, the process and the creation, as much as it is about the results.  It brings the day-to-day challenge of striving for the best but also offers the artistic element of working alongside Mother Nature.  Wine’s intrigue is so encompassing that I literally can’t wait for the next chance to create something special with critically acclaimed winemaker Mike Smith -- and taste that next glass of PatinĂ©!
Jim has been with the Los Angeles Kings organization since 1980. After a successful 10 year playing career with the Los Angeles Kings, Jim reached as high as 5th on the Kings all-time points list and currently sits 9th. In 1990, he continued off-ice as the team’s director of community relations and, subsequently, as an Emmy Award-winning TV analyst.
Jim and wife Susie discovered their love of wine enjoying special moments with family and friends. These experiences inspired Jim to become a diligent student of wine, including frequent trips to the world’s top wine regions of Europe and California.
As co-founder of Patiné Cellars, Jim actively manages daily business operations including the direction of sales, marketing and production.
ABOUT DEAN: Growing up in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Dean was introduced to the world class quality of California wines while attending graduate school at the University of Southern California.  Dean’s passion for hand crafted premium wine led him to the Napa Valley, where he took time out from his real estate development career, to volunteer for winemaker Mike Smith during harvest in 2009.  After spending three years working (volunteering) crush for Mike Smith and countless hours of tasting and talking wines with friend Jim Fox, the birth of our new project was formed.  As co-founder of PatinĂ© Cellars, Dean is responsible for the start-up and day-to-day business operations of the company.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California and an honorary PhD in cleaning wine making equipment from Carter-Envy, Calistoga, California.

About Taylor: After graduating from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Business Marketing, Taylor spent a year working for a biodynamic vineyard in a village outside of Auckland, New Zealand. This was her first introduction to the wine world and she quickly fell in love with all it has to offer – the people, the places, the culture, the product. Upon returning to the United States she moved from her small hometown in Washington State to Buellton, where she started working for the Vintners’ Association as an Intern. Taylor was promoted to Marketing and Communications Coordinator in October and hopes to continue blending her passions for marketing and wine, while learning more about the industry, in the Santa Barbara region.
Santa Barbara Vintners Spring Weekend April 10 – 13A long weekend filled with special events held at wineries, vineyards, tasting rooms, and restaurants throughout Santa Barbara County.  This is a chance to try more of that Santa Barbara County wine you love, get to know the people who make it and where they make it from. Throughout the weekend select wineries host their own events on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, ranging from winemaker dinners through library tastings and sales to new wine releases and barrel tastings.

Bruliam sources fruit from California’s finest vineyards, selecting only low-yield, hand harvested, and hand sorted grapes that fully express the terroir of each unique growing region. While we are always grateful for critical acclaim and commercial success, Bruliam Wines is at its core, a pursuit of passion. We know we’re lucky to realize our dream and founded Bruliam with the mandate to donate 100% of our profits to charitable causes. Since our inception, Bruliam has donated to over 45 different national and local charities. More importantly, we didn’t select those recipients ourselves. Each organization was selected by our most ardent fans and supporters, affectionately dubbed “The Bruliam Brigade.”
About: Kerith Overstreet is a triple threat: Bruliam Wines co-founder, medical doctor, and mom to three young kids. After retiring from general surgery (to pursue pathology) and then medicine (to have babies), she taught herself to recite Goodnight Moon in 27 different languages. Knowing she couldn’t very well sit around quaffing wine all day without due cause, she jumped headfirst into winemaking. Her final baby, Bruliam Wines was established in 2008. Since then, Kerith has completed her enology courses at UC Davis and has crafted all of Bruliam’s wines since our launch. Kerith is often asked to speak at industry events about her unique background and her expertise in the art and science of winemaking. Sometimes there is even an audience.
